About The Position

This position is for a Patient Care Technician/Tele Technician on the Cardiovascular Unit, working nights at Elmhurst Main Hospital Campus. The role is full-time, 36 hours per week, from 7pm-7am, and includes working 4-5 weekends in a 6-week period and rotating holidays. As a Patient Care Technician, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the individual will perform patient care tasks and procedures to ensure the care, comfort, and safety of patients. As a Telemetry Technician, under general supervision, the individual will monitor cardiac rhythms and oxygen saturation using telemetry equipment to detect abnormal pattern variances. This includes monitoring screens, assessing cardiac rhythms, printing strips for medical charts, and notifying nursing and/or medical personnel as required. The role also involves clerical duties such as answering routine questions and managing telephone calls.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Current CPR Certification issued by the American Heart Associates
  • Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training course or minimum six months of previous patient care experience or equivalent or completion of one nursing clinical rotation
  • Minimum three months of previous healthcare or monitor tech experience
  • Attend an in-depth orientation regarding patient care skill tasks

Responsibilities
