PCT - Orthopedic Clinic - Full Time
About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs basic patient care services and supports activities within ambulatory services, specifically in a busy Orthopedic Clinic that sees patients of all ages. PCTs are multi-skilled to provide expanded services under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical professional. This role involves working closely with the nursing staff and Providers, where the PCT will be taught various skills specific to orthopedics. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, independent, and compassionate individual who can work both independently and as a team member, and adapt to a dynamic work environment while managing various tasks. Requirements
- Ability to work independently but also as a team member
- Self-motivated, independent and compassionate individual
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment while managing various tasks
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment
- If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nursing Assistant (NA) through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of initial employment
Nice To Haves
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred
- Minimum of six months’ experience preferred
- Experience in a clinic setting preferred
- Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred
Responsibilities
- Rooming patients
- Obtaining vital signs
- Asking intake questions
- Staple/suture removals
- Assist with dressing changes
- Assist with fitting patients for assistive devices/braces
- Cleaning and stocking of patient rooms
- Prepping education materials to hand out to patients
- Assisting providers and nursing team as needed
