The Patient Care Technician (PCT) functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Additionally, the PCT may assume the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator. This role involves prioritizing and delivering basic patient care, reporting and recording patient care findings, and collaborating with the RN and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient care. The PCT will perform assigned duties within their Scope of Practice and specialized procedures with skill validation according to regulatory standards. Fostering a safe environment by complying with safety policies and taking appropriate action in emergencies is also a key aspect of the role.
