This is a combined posting for a Patient Care Technician, and Associate Patient Care Technician. The requirements of each role are listed below under each associated title. Under general supervision by the RN, the Patient Care Tech is responsible for providing basic nursing care for in-patients and out-patients as needed, within their specified area(s) (see below). The Patient Care Tech is responsible for collecting and reporting of information to the supervising RN and completion of all patient care related documentation. Patient Care Techs are assigned as follows: Cardiopulmonary - basic respiratory, cardiology, nursing care, Medical/Surgical/Oncology – basic respiratory, nursing care, and assists with orthopedic devices (adult, geriatric), Resource Float Pool – basic respiratory, nursing care. Under general supervision by the RN, the dual role Patient Care Tech/Unit Secretary provides nursing staff with clerical support to assist in facilitating patient care and is responsible for providing basic nursing care for in-patients and out-patients as needed, within their specified area. The Patient Care Tech/Secretary is responsible for collecting and reporting information to the supervising RN and completion of all patient care related documentation. Associate Patient Care Technician: Required Qualifications: Coursework/Training: For hires after 10/31/16: Completion of a CNA program, or completion of first semester nursing program, or EMT program completion. National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire. Experience with basic data entry. Preferred Qualifications: Coursework/Training: EKG Training 1 year of acute patient care experience, or 6 months experience in a direct patient care environment providing clerical or patient support related to Provider, patient documentation or charting. Patient Care Technician: Required Qualifications: Coursework/Training: For hires after 10/31/16: Completion of a CNA program, or completion of first semester nursing program, or EMT program completion. California Nursing Assistant Certification License upon hire or California Emergency Medical Technician License upon hire. National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire. Experience with basic data entry. Preferred Qualifications: Coursework/Training: Satisfactory completion of a medical terminology course or equivalent education/experience or Knowledge of medical terminology. 1 year of acute patient care experience, or 6 months experience in a direct patient care environment providing clerical or patient support related to Provider, patient documentation or charting.
