Fairview Hospital’s Parkview III Complex Medical Care unit primarily focuses on the care of post-operative patients in Med/Surg. This collaborative, multi-disciplinary team provides care to patients who have had orthopaedic, spine, low-risk bariatric, urology, vascular, colorectal, and general surgeries, but this unit sees all types of surgical and trauma patients. As a Mobility Technician in Parkview III, you will provide patient care services related to ambulation, transfers, and positioning of designated inpatients under the direction of professional clinical staff. This role supports reduced length of stay, achievement of provider-directed goals, enhanced recovery and function, improved skin integrity, prevention of complications such as DVT and bowel obstructions, and the promotion of psychological well-being. A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide various patient care activities and services related to the ambulation, transfer and positioning of designated inpatients under the direction of the professional staff. Follow nurse/therapist instructions. Utilize proper body mechanics and attend to patient safety. Report unusual observations to supervisor. Work with nurse/therapist to achieve optimal patient care/satisfaction by responding to nursing/therapy directions and physicians’ orders. Monitor processes to improve service within the department/facility. Required standing and walking for six to eight hours in an eight hour shift. Frequently requires lifting and turning patients, and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs.
