About The Position

Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, expanding humanity’s reach into the solar system. Today, Astranis satellites provide dedicated, secure networks to highly-sophisticated customers across the globe— large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With five satellites on orbit and many more set to launch soon, the company is servicing a backlog of more than $1 billion of commercial contracts. As a PCBA Manufacturing Engineer, you will work across design engineering, supply-chain, quality, and our manufacturing partners to drive PCBA manufacturing with on time delivery. You will define manufacturing readiness requirements and lead key milestone reviews to ensure all stakeholder deliverables are complete. You will work with the Design Engineering team to identify and escalate manufacturing challenges early in product development by enforcing DFM, DFA and DFS principles. Additionally, you will drive closure of all operational issues during pre-production builds, investigate failures in production, test, and integration, and deliver manufacturing processes capabilities including equipment capability, quality controls, materials characterization, and workmanship standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of experience in PCBA/PCB supply chain, manufacturing, or engineering.
  • Experience in board assembly process and equipment (for example: Stencil print, SPI, pick & place, reflow, AOI, ICT, x-ray inspection).
  • Experience leading DFX reviews to deliver design manufacturability, testability, quality, and reliability.
  • Must be onsite 5 days a week
  • Certified or significantly familiar with IPC-610.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 7+ years of experience in PCBA/PCB supply chain, manufacturing or engineering.
  • 5+ years’ experience with industry standard PLM and DFX systems, Mentor/Valor preferred.
  • Experience performing Design and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses.
  • Experience with IPC standards for PCB, PCBA, and RFPC fabrication, assembly, and test.
  • Experience in Polymeric application, including conformal coating, staking and underfill.

Responsibilities

  • Define manufacturing readiness requirements and lead key milestone reviews to ensure all stakeholder deliverables are complete.
  • Work with the Design Engineering team to identify and escalate manufacturing challenges early in product development by enforcing DFM, DFA and DFS principles.
  • Drive closure of all operational issues during pre-production builds.
  • Investigate failures in production, test, and integration. Identify and mitigate underlying root causes to prevent reoccurrence and foster continuous improvement.
  • Deliver manufacturing processes capabilities including equipment capability, quality controls, materials characterization, and workmanship standards.
  • Actively monitor the success of products and processes through the production ramp.
  • Provide direction to contract manufacturing, suppliers, and engineers to manage quarantine and rework activities.
