About The Position

PCBA Manufacturing Engineer @HYVE Solutions, missions to help customers, business partners, and employees achieve success through shared goals, strategies, resources and technology solutions. PCBA Manufacturing Engineer An SMT Process Engineer provides technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance to internal and external customers regarding Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Plated Through Hole (PTH) equipment, processes, and related issues, ensuring optimal machine performance and production quality. Key Responsibilities Process Optimization Collaborate with engineering teams/Customer to optimize SMT processes, including solder paste application, component placement, reflow profiles, and quality control procedures. Analyze production data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement. Develop and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency and yield. Technical Support Respond to technical inquiries from operators, engineers, maintenance personnel and Customer regarding SMT equipment malfunctions, process deviations, and component placement issues. Assists/Lead diagnosing problems through analysis of error codes, machine logs, and visual inspection, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions. Provide remote troubleshooting support via phone, email, and remote access tools. Conduct on-site troubleshooting and repairs as needed, including adjustments to machine parameters and component placement settings.

Requirements

Understanding of electronics or manufacturing processes

Proficient computer competence
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to the degree necessary to perform the job
Proficient at reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, bills of material, etc.
Minimum High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience

Nice To Haves

Preferred minimum 2 years of working in a manufacturing or inspection environment
Preferred IPC-A-610, IPC-A-600, IPC 7711/7721, J-STD-001 experience
Preferred knowledge of components and their polarity, including resistors and capacitors

Responsibilities

Process Optimization Collaborate with engineering teams/Customer to optimize SMT processes, including solder paste application, component placement, reflow profiles, and quality control procedures.
Analyze production data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement.
Develop and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency and yield.
Technical Support Respond to technical inquiries from operators, engineers, maintenance personnel and Customer regarding SMT equipment malfunctions, process deviations, and component placement issues.

Know/Learn topics related to SMT and PTH processing, i.e.
Understand the different processes of SMT, PTH, Hand solder, Touch-up rework of PCBAs
Be familiar with industry standards such as IPC-A-610, IPC-A-600, IPC 7711/7721, etc.
Know operation of BGA rework equipment
Know operation of X-ray equipment
Understand application of pre-heating table or hot air flow gun when rework is required
Understand use Mini-solder pot
Know the difference between Leaded and Lead-Free processes
Know inspection of PCB to ensure quality standards are met
Execute written and/or verbal instructions given by Supervisor/Manager and monitor efficiency and quality of assigned routine tasks
Demonstrate work methods and equipment operation to new hires
Report results of assigned tasks
Assist/validate tooling and fixtures
Assist/Lead in the configuration of our MES system for components, Routes, Assemblies, Work Orders, etc.
Create Manufacturing Instructions using Valor, Power Point, Word, Excel or other applicable programs
Create and expand component library for Valor using the VLM module
Assist/Review the creation of DFMs and DFTs
Prepare reports for the Customer
Interact and represent Hyve with Customer
Create Pick and Place programs for Juki
Create Pick and Place programs for Fuji
Create Screen Printer programs
Create Press-fit programs
Create SPI programs
Create AOI programs
Create AXI programs
Create Selective Solder programs
Create SMT reflow oven profiles and obtain acceptance by responsible engineer
Create PTH wave/selective solder profiles and obtain acceptance by responsible engineer
Create programs for depanelization equipment
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues
Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety standards
Follow standard operating procedures and quality control guidelines
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
