PCB Layout Designer, Robotaxi, Autonomous Vehicles
About The Position
The Tesla Circuit Board Layout team designs PCBs for all Tesla products: Robotaxi Autonomous Vehicles, Energy Storage, Optimus Humanoid Robots, and more. Design high volume circuit boards for all Tesla products by collaborating with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, in-circuit test (ICT), and supplier industrialization engineers Rapidly iterate as design requirements and product features mature over time Circuit board design in Altium (or equivalent) for high-volume production Design optimization for cost, manufacturability (IPC standards), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), heat dissipation, and high voltage (1500V) Layout of analog & digital circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, microcontrollers, communication buses, etc)
Requirements
- Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Familiarity with the following; PCB materials, cost-drivers, manufacturing process (DFM), and stackups
- Creating schematic symbols and footprints in Altium Vault (component librarian)
- High-density technologies: Fine-pitch packages, BGAs, and via technology (vippo, micro, blind, buried)
- High-speed digital communication layout (up to 10GHz) and Radio Frequency (RF) layout
- Rigid-flex and flexible PCBs
- Altium tools: CoDesigner, Server, 3D tools, constraint manager, net classes, variants, and rooms
- Automotive design requirements
- Cadence Allegro
- Product Lifecycle Management tools (such as Enovia) and ticketing tools (such as JIRA)
Responsibilities
- Design high volume circuit boards for all Tesla products by collaborating with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, in-circuit test (ICT), and supplier industrialization engineers
- Rapidly iterate as design requirements and product features mature over time
- Circuit board design in Altium (or equivalent) for high-volume production
- Design optimization for cost, manufacturability (IPC standards), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), heat dissipation, and high voltage (1500V)
- Layout of analog & digital circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, microcontrollers, communication buses, etc)
