About The Position

Stellant Systems, Inc. (Stellant) is seeking a talented onsite PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD DESIGNER at our Torrance, California location. In this role you will support our goal of bringing cutting edge technology to mission critical aerospace and defense applications, supporting critical commercial and government programs for orbital or terrestrial systems. The primary role for this position is to support product design engineering by creating PCB layouts and clearly communicating designs with drawings and schematics.

Requirements

  • Level II requires a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Level III requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Level IV requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field. Additional years of relevant experience may be used in lieu of education.
  • Proficiency in the use of Altium for printed circuit board layout, schematic capture, and library management is required.
  • Knowledge of general drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M), change control processes, and configuration management principles is required.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and adjust quickly to changing priorities is required.
  • Working knowledge of PCB materials and manufacturing techniques is required.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards for PCB design and manufacture is required.
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (e.g. Green Card holder), or a protected individual as defined by the International Traffic in Arm Regulations (ITAR).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Windchill or equivalent PLM system is a plus.
  • Proficiency in the use of Mentor Graphics PADS is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Inventor is a plus.
  • Experience with CREO, SolidWorks and SolidWorks Enterprise PDM is a plus.
  • Chip-and-wire substrate layout experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Layout printed circuit boards and associated drawings and schematics using Altium in a manner consistent with the manufacturing schedule using industry standards.
  • Create models and drawings of PCB assemblies.
  • Investigate design factors such as ease of manufacturing, cost, maintenance, and contractual specifications, ensuring that designs and engineering data are accurate, functional, clearly communicated, and conform to internal standards and procedures.
  • Interact with product engineering, manufacturing, and procurement departments as well as external suppliers and customers to identify requirements necessary to resolve design and manufacturing related issues.
  • Generate and process engineering change notices to update drawings and documentation
  • Role may support chip-and-wire substrate layout for active RF products
