About The Position

The Float Pool PCA position at Mass General Brigham involves assisting in clinical support functions under the direction of a registered/licensed nurse (RN) to promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment. The role includes performing patient care related duties such as vital signs monitoring, assisting with patient hygiene, and supporting patients with mobility and feeding. The PCA is also responsible for ensuring patient rooms are stocked and cleaned, documenting patient information, and communicating effectively with nursing staff regarding patient care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Some healthcare experience (1-2 years) required.
• Ability to multitask and handle stress crisis situations effectively.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Demonstrated typing skills and computer experience required.
• Good interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills required.
• Ability to lift and transport patients safely according to Safe Patient Handling Guidelines.

Nice To Haves

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate preferred.
• Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA - New Hampshire) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care related duties and clinical functions as assigned.
• Document point of care, vital signs, EKG's, and other patient information.
• Assist RN's and physicians with exams and treatments.
• Ensure patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately.
• Perform specimen collection and document all appropriate information.
• Retrieve and set up equipment, clean between patient use, and report malfunctions.
• Assist patients with food tray setup and eating if necessary.
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding patient care and condition.
• Receive and direct Medical Staff, personnel, patients, and visitors.
