Peri-operative Team Assistant is responsible for assisting various team members of the Operating Room in their daily activities involving provision of safe patient care and effective functioning of the Operating Room.

Requirements

High School education.
Basic knowledge of patient care and basic medical equipment.
Interpersonal skills and high organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Monitors air quality: checks, records and reports air quality parameters.
Management of surgical specimen: logs and transports surgical specimen.
Equipment management: preparing, cleaning and transporting basic room equipment and surgical devices.
Cleaning activities: performs basic, turnover and terminal cleaning of the OR areas; disposes sharp, pharmacy and biohazard materials.
Supply management: maintains level of surgical scrubs, linens, disinfecting solutions and irrigation solutions; puts away surgical inventory.
Patient transferring: assists OR staff during patient transfers.
Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
