About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to perform and oversee resident personal care or to assist residents in performing personal care, including dining services, in accordance with Facility policies and procedures. This is a 12-hour night shift (6p-6a) in the Lodge Memory Support, with a schedule of every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. Immanuel Living is a not-for-profit, Life Plan Community located in Kalispell, MT, offering residents new possibilities each day with resort-style amenities, numerous options for healthy lifestyles, and a breathtaking location near Glacier National Park. Immanuel Living serves 300 older adults in independent villa apartments, assisted living, memory support, post-acute rehab, and long-term care residences, and includes multiple dining rooms, a fitness center, and art studio. Immanuel Living is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and is committed to providing a faith-based environment while maintaining its reputation as a leader in senior living.

Requirements

  • Employee must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work under time and/or deadline pressures.
  • Ability to frequently sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, squat, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 10 pounds, but rarely lift up to 20 pounds, and rarely lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally reach above shoulder height, frequently reach from chest to shoulder, and frequently reach below waist level.
  • Ability to occasionally carry up to 12 pounds but rarely carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently push / pull up to 20 pounds, but rarely push up to 40 pounds and rarely push / pull up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in medication assistance preferred.
  • Graduation from high school or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee resident personal care or assist residents in performing personal care, including dining services, in accordance with Facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents, resident family members, coworkers, and Immanuel Living.
  • Understand and support the philosophy, policies, and standards of Immanuel Living and the Assisted Living Department.
  • Maintain quality of resident care, including compliance with Facility and Assisted Living Department policies and procedures, and State and Federal guidelines.
  • Annually review, to understand, and comply with Assisted Living Policies and Procedures and the procedures for MSDS, Exposure Control, Infection Control, and Fire Plan.
  • Accurately and safely perform resident care, in accordance with residents’ service plan, resident Assignment Sheets and worksheets, and nurses’ instructions.
  • Follow resident Service Plans and give input for changes in writing.
  • Administer PRN medications, per procedure.
  • Answer residents’ pendant alarms and emergency call buttons in a timely manner, then follow the incident reporting procedure.
  • Check residents’ medications drawer and initial on the Medication Sheet when they have taken their medicines; remind residents to take medications and/or give assistance when needed.
  • Straighten and maintain Assisted Living area and equipment storage areas in neat and orderly condition.
  • Assist residents to and from meals, meetings, and activities, as needed.
  • Give incoming staff a report at the end of assigned shift.
  • When coming on shift, check in with the Front Desk Clerk and use the communication books to update on status of residents.
  • Accurately record resident care on Resident Assignment Sheet.
  • File documentation in resident charts as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
