About The Position

SPHP is looking for a candidate that can use switchboard operation of telecommunication equipment. The candidate must be able to operate a computerized switchboard console and perform basic keyboard functions including typing. They will direct all incoming and in-house calls through transfers, paging, conference calls, overhead paging, and faxing. In emergency situations, the candidate must be able to initiate appropriate paging and contact personnel properly in a timely manner.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have switchboard experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs all incoming and in-house calls through transfers, paging, conference calls, overhead paging, and faxing.
• Initiates appropriate paging and contacts personnel in emergency situations.
• Processes and triages all customer calls in a clear voice using good English.
• Remains calm and maintains professionalism when handling delicate or volatile customers.
• Announces and dispatches appropriate parties for Code Blue, Code Yellow, and emergency situations.
• Announces and prepares staff for JCAHO visits and/or emergency preparedness situations.
• Takes/writes clear notes quickly for later retrieval and understanding.
• Documents necessary information concerning daily and emergency situations in office logbook.
• Maintains any necessary additions, deletions, and changes to daily operations on-call schedules and switchboard related functions.
• Assists in working hours other than scheduled when requested by supervisor.
