The PBX Operator is responsible for ensuring efficient communication within, to and from the hospital in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner and according to standard operating procedure. Cheerfully greet and assist external and internal callers on multiple incoming telephone lines.
Provide information/phone numbers to callers as requested or make sufficient inquiries necessary to refer the caller to the appropriate hospital personnel or department.
Execute overhead paging for authorized reasons when requested to do so by the appropriate staff.
Understand hospital emergency codes and alarms and the effect they have on patient care and safety, and coordinate emergency code responses assuring the proper personnel are notified.
Monitor all alarms located in PBX and notify appropriate personnel as required.
Assist with updating the facility, phone directories and on-call lists.

High school graduate or equivalent.
At least one year of experience operating a switchboard or as a receptionist with multiple line phone responsibility.
Multiple line phone or switchboard skills.
Basic computer skills.
Experience with Word & Excel preferred.
Proven customer service skills in working with public and emergency situations.
