The Payroll Tax Analyst is a financial professional responsible for managing and analyzing payroll tax compliance within the organization. This role ensures that all payroll taxes are accurately calculated, reported, and paid in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and effective communication abilities to support the payroll function and ensure compliance.

  • Ensure adherence to all payroll tax laws and regulations, including timely filings and payments.
  • Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and submit necessary payroll tax reports to governmental agencies.
  • Assist in internal and external audits related to payroll taxes, ensuring all documentation is accurate and readily available.
  • Collaborate with HR, accounting, and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll operations and resolve any tax-related issues.
  • Stay informed about changes in payroll tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Support special project work as needed.
  • 1-3 years of experience in payroll processing, tax compliance, or accounting.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and software, such as ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including functions, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with accounting software and payroll systems.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Strong analytical abilities to identify discrepancies and recommend improvements.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in calculations and reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with internal teams and external agencies.
  • Ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively, especially during peak payroll periods.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality regarding sensitive financial information.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions.
  • Certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or other relevant tax or accounting certifications.
  • Familiarity with auditing processes and experience in assisting with audits.
  • Knowledge of labor laws and HR practices as they relate to payroll and taxation.
