About The Position

Ensure that payroll is delivered in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations efficiently and in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Some college preferred
  • Knowledge of substitute and employee attendance systems
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and work well under time constraints and with interruptions
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of payroll accounting and auditing principles
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in keyboarding and file maintenance
  • Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner
  • Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing
  • Minimum of two years of payroll experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Take incoming calls and promote positive public relations between the school and community.
  • Receive and process mail regarding the Payroll Department.
  • Prepare payroll forms using a personal computer.
  • Maintain department files.
  • Perform payroll data entry, initiate and maintain employee records, retrieve archived files, compile data for reports, and inventory and maintain payroll files and forms.
  • Communicate with other departments and campuses to ensure the accuracy of the information reported; resolve payroll problems and inquiries.
  • Respond to requests from financial institutions regarding verification of employment.
  • Calculate payroll adjustments as necessary.
  • Work with campuses and departments to process daily absence reports.
  • Work in cooperation with the Benefits Department to get information regarding the Sick Leave Bank and maintain all information in the financial software, timekeeping system, and substitute/attendance software.
  • Verify employee leave is updated appropriately in financial software.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
