About The Position

TalentFish is casting a line for a Payroll Specialist . This is a contract role in Deerfield, IL . The reason this position exists is to ensure the seamless, accurate, and timely processing of payroll for all employees while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Proven Payroll Expertise: Must have hands-on experience in payroll processing and a strong knowledge of payroll systems and software.
  • Educational Background: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, wage garnishments, and tax deductions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with modern payroll software platforms.
  • Discretion & Professionalism: Proven ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with the utmost integrity.
  • Detail Orientation: Exceptional accuracy and the ability to meet rigid deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
  • All offers are contingent upon the completion of a background check, which may include but is not limited to reference checks, education verification, employment verification, drug testing, criminal records checks, and any required certifications or compliance requirements based on the end client's background check policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Verify employee timesheets for accuracy and enter payroll data into databases/spreadsheets, ensuring all hours and compensation details are captured correctly.
  • Manage direct deposit requests, update banking information, and process paper checks for distribution with proper documentation.
  • Calculate and execute pay adjustments for raises, bonuses, commissions, and other changes to employee pay.
  • Process and track wage garnishments according to legal requirements and maintain up-to-date records of tax withholdings and benefits.
  • Generate detailed payroll reports for internal departments and management to support accounting and financial audits.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiries, resolving discrepancies and providing high-level customer service.
