Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. Saber serves clients locally, nationally, and abroad. Saber Power Services seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing full-cycle biweekly payroll processing, onboarding new employees in multiple systems, and ensuring compliance with payroll laws and internal policies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment and contribute positively to cross-functional collaboration. Position Summary: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple entities, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and internal regulations. This position manages a variety of payroll and employee data functions, including new hire setup, benefits enrollment, pay changes, terminations, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a working knowledge of multi-state payroll requirements, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, or equivalent, is required. Associate’s degree, or some college, is a plus.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of recent experience in a direct payroll position is required.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now, ADP Enhanced Time or similar robust HR and Payroll management system is a plus
  • Familiarity with multiple pay types: wages, per diems, travel time, report time, and experience with different pay rules applying based on departmental designations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and successfully manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet team goals and responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree, or some college, is a plus.

  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central a plus

Responsibilities

  • Complete new hire payroll setups including:
  • Create employee profiles in ADP, ensuring accurate and complete data for timekeeping, federal, and internal reporting.
  • Review benefits enrollments and complete manual enrollment in ancillary systems such as 401(k) and OAG.
  • Collect and validate direct deposit and benefit documentation as needed.
  • Enroll new hires
  • Provide backup support for I-9 and E-Verify processing.
  • Maintain employee records and process changes to wages, job titles, departments, and reporting managers.
  • Manage employee terminations in ADP following final paycheck processing.
  • Execute accurate and timely biweekly payroll for multiple entitles utilizing ADP:
  • Review and process hours worked, reimbursements, and adjustments.
  • Review and prepare employee expense reimbursements for payroll inclusion.
  • Perform payroll reporting and compliance duties including:
  • Prepare and reconcile biweekly 401(k) reports.
  • Generate job cost and general journal entries for payroll-related transactions.
  • Establish and maintain state tax accounts; ensure compliance with multi-state tax regulations.
  • Process wage garnishments, including child support and other court-ordered deductions.
  • Support audits and reporting by assisting with year-end financial, benefit plan, and insurance audits and ensuring all payroll-related documentation is audit-ready.
  • Collaborate effectively by maintaining positive interactions with HR, accounting, and other departments.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
