About The Position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll for Jerritt Canyon employees, ensuring adherence to Company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role serves as a subject matter expert for payroll processes and provides critical support during periods of organizational change. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced, and able to work independently while partnering closely with Human Resources, Finance, and corporate teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of payroll experience with demonstrated ability to manage complex payroll requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience with payroll and timekeeping systems; experience with enterprise systems (SAP or similar) preferred.
  • Proven experience managing payroll audits, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting hourly and salaried employee populations.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations, including overtime, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
  • Maintain and audit payroll data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity within payroll and HR systems.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, including pay discrepancies, deductions, and timekeeping issues.
  • Partner with Human Resources on new hires, terminations, employee status changes, and leave administration to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Coordinate with Finance and corporate payroll teams on reconciliations, reporting, and payroll-related accounting activities.
  • Administer payroll adjustments, retroactive pay, bonuses, and special payments as required.
  • Support timekeeping systems and ensure accurate review and approval of employee time records.
  • Prepare and support payroll reports, audits, and internal controls as required.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and reconciliations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment and discretion in all aspects of the role.
  • Demonstrate alignment with First Majestic's values and organizational behaviors in all interactions and work activities.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures, including safety, environmental, and code of conduct requirements.
  • Perform work safely and complete other related duties as assigned.
