About The Position

The Payroll Specialist at HAZA Group is responsible for managing multi-state payroll processing with a focus on confidentiality and compliance with various regulations. This full-time role involves preparing and processing payroll cycles, maintaining employee records, and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local payroll laws. The position reports to the Payroll Manager and is essential for the smooth operation of payroll functions within the organization.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma; Associate's Degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of payroll processing experience.
  • Thorough understanding of payroll processing, procedures, and payroll tax reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all information.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and orally, to employees and management.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Team orientation with respect for others.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process various payroll cycles (weekly, biweekly, off cycle, monthly) for multiple states.
  • Maintain all wage assignments and child support setups, deductions, and payments to courts and vendors.
  • Direct the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
  • Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Determine payroll liabilities by approving calculations of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintain employee leave balances, benefit payroll deductions, and garnishments.
  • Respond to questions and special requests from regulatory agencies regarding payroll compliance.
