This position is responsible for preparing and processing payroll. The employee will enter, maintain, and/or process employee information into the payroll system, which may include employees' hourly rates, salaries, overtime, bonuses, or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding. The role also involves ensuring proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions, issuing or reissuing direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge, and recording and processing federal and state payroll tax deposits. Additionally, the employee will calculate and prepare general ledger entries, reconcile billing reports with payroll deductions, and process payments for the amounts withheld. Adherence to all mandatory payroll deadlines is crucial, as is advising payroll staff on payroll processes and resolving payroll issues. The employee will coordinate and oversee the electronic transfer of funds, receive all garnishments for child support, IRS, and other court levies, and disseminate appropriate information to employees, agencies, and the Cooperative. Other responsibilities include responding to requests for employment verification, researching and analyzing payroll information, filing tax reports and payments, preparing accounting documents, verifying data and journal entries, and maintaining the security of confidential information.
