Performs routine payroll processing work. Work involves processing payrolls and preparing and maintaining payroll records and reports. Works under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Enters, updates, and retrieves information from various automated, human resources, and payroll systems; and reviews, edits, and reconciles discrepancies in computer listings and other sources of employee information to include payroll reports and calculations.
Provides technical assistance to clerical staff, unit and departmental human resources representatives, and agency employees.
Audits and reconciles employee leave records and human resources payroll transactions.
Responds to verbal and written requests regarding human resources and payroll issues and resolves routine issues related to payroll processing.
Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
One year full-time, wage-earning accounting, clerical, human resources, payroll, or financial operations experience. Fifteen semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) may be substituted for each six months of experience.
Knowledge of office practices and procedures.

Skill to maintain confidential and sensitive information, as well as accurate records, files, and reports.
Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.
Conditions include working inside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, radiant and electrical energy, working closely with others, working alone, working protracted or irregular hours, and traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane.
Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing only the essential functions include computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, dolly, and automobile.
Computer operations experience preferred.
Data entry experience preferred.
Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred.
