About The Position

The Payroll Specialist works under the direction of the Payroll Operations Manager. The position will work in collaboration with other Payroll Specialists who will share responsibility for providing daily payroll support including, but not limited to answering employee payroll questions, collecting/sorting/processing the mail, maintaining employee information updates, tax withholding changes, retirement contributions, completing employment verifications, garnishments, liens, expense reimbursements, internal/external payroll reporting, audit of time & attendance entries for accuracy, investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and various other tasks as assigned. The position must communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse groups and individuals. Exercise good judgment and tact in providing leadership, guidance and assistance. Maintain confidentiality of all work information. The position must be able to work independently while consistently demonstrating the core values of Enloe Health and serve as a role model to other employees.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year accounting, general office or payroll experience -OR- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/University.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Healthcare / hospital experience.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of CA wage and hour laws, Healthcare and California pay practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily payroll support including answering employee payroll questions.
  • Collect, sort, and process mail.
  • Maintain employee information updates and tax withholding changes.
  • Handle retirement contributions and complete employment verifications.
  • Manage garnishments, liens, and expense reimbursements.
  • Conduct internal/external payroll reporting.
  • Audit time & attendance entries for accuracy.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Perform various other tasks as assigned.
