This position is responsible for performing payroll and labor related financial functions. The ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, while maintaining a strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must. This position will require interaction with all employee and management levels as well as frequent interaction with Human Resources, various agencies, and third-party providers. Some, but not all, specific tasks to be performed are as follows: Perform quality checks on all data entry activity performed by the department’s financial clerks. Monitor all payroll activity related to internal transfers between pay groups. Calculate and process payoffs; ensure accuracy of pay and labor transactions. Coordinate tax location code updates for employees entering and returning from extended work assignments. Coordinate wage and tax reversals as necessary. Monitor and perform updates to multistate taxation related activity. Evaluate monthly leave accrual activity for accuracy. Perform updates as necessary. Support payroll audits.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1+ years of Payroll processing experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Reporting and data analysis experience
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality working with sensitive information
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with all layers within the organization as well as outside agencies and third-party providers
  • Ability to effectively work as a team player in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Experience working with mainframe based financial systems
  • PeopleSoft experience
  • Prior experience working with multiple pay groups / collective bargaining units
  • Microsoft office suite
