About The Position

The Payroll Representative at CH Guenther & Son is responsible for processing multi-state payrolls accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with financial reporting and internal controls. This role involves performing reconciliations, maintaining payroll information, and providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. The representative will also support audits and special projects, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of multi-state payroll experience.
  • Preferred completion of introductory college accounting courses.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Intermediate general math skills.
  • Experience with WorkDay payroll system preferred.
  • Experience with time and attendance systems, NetTime preferred.
  • Basic SAP experience and/or knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with ADP preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and be a self-starter.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with processing payroll-related duties such as garnishments, taxes, and benefit reconciliations.
  • Experience with child support processing through ExpertPay.

Responsibilities

  • Process multi-state weekly and biweekly payrolls accurately and timely.
  • Perform reconciliations of payroll to the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Process third-party benefit billing and reconcile it with payroll.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of payroll-related general ledger accounts.
  • Perform periodic maintenance of employee payroll information, including direct deposits and garnishments.
  • Process manual checks as needed and prepare checks and ACH payments.
  • File backup paperwork and assist in maintaining payroll archives.
  • Support initiatives for continuous evaluation and improvement of internal controls.
  • Provide reports to outside departments and assist with audits and special projects as needed.
