About The Position

Rycon Construction is an employee-owned company (ESOP) that provides construction management, general contracting, and design-build services nationwide. An ENR Top 400 Contractor, ENR Top 100 Green Contractor, and BD+C Top 150 Contractor with nine offices, Rycon specializes in new construction, renovations, and adaptive reuse projects. From large-scale developments to small, fast-track interior fit-outs, Rycon is equipped to deliver a comprehensive range of services across all project types. Rycon’s portfolio includes projects in healthcare, higher education, industrial/warehouse, commercial, multi-unit residential, food service/dining, retail, financial, self-storage, governmental, and LEED facilities. We have an in-house Architectural Woodwork & Specialty Fabrication Division that ships/installs nationally. We are seeking a Payroll Manager in our Pittsburgh office. What you will do:

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-state and/or multi-union environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with payroll tax reporting and payroll account reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical skills with extremely high attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and oversee daily activities of a payroll function.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills required – Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with payroll software (familiarity with Miter is a plus).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with union payroll is strongly preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, manage, and support all aspects of the payroll function, including supervision of the Payroll Administrator.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of the payroll database and process payroll in accordance with company policies, procedures, and timelines.
  • Ensure all federal, state, and local tax withholdings are accurate, compliant, and reported appropriately.
  • Manage union payroll reporting, including fringe benefit remittances, dues reporting, and compliance across all applicable union agreements.
  • Oversee and complete the certified payroll reporting process.
  • Oversee and complete payroll-related tax reporting, including quarterly and year-end filings.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts weekly and monthly in coordination with accounting department.
  • Ensure accuracy and timely preparation of W-2 and W-3 forms.
  • Provide weekly 401(k) deduction/match reporting to the CFO.
  • Prepare and transmit weekly HSA/FSA contribution reporting to the company’s benefits provider.
  • Prepare specialized payroll and HR reports as requested.
  • Process garnishments and ensure compliant remittance to appropriate agencies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated payroll questions and issue resolution.
