About The Position

The Payroll Lead at TJ Maxx is responsible for ensuring the timely administration of payroll and personnel file maintenance, supporting benefits program communication, and overseeing HR Assistants. This role requires compliance with company policies, state and federal laws, and involves problem-solving and training within the HR team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience, and/or Bachelor's Degree.
  • 1-2 years related experience in payroll or HR functions.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills.
  • Complex problem-solving skills and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Knowledge of Outlook, Teams, MS Excel, MS Word, and payroll systems (e.g., Kronos, Oracle).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely administration of payroll and personnel file maintenance.
  • Support communication and administration of benefits programs.
  • Monitor and allocate work to HR Assistants and assist with problem solving.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws.
  • Review and analyze workload issues, discrepancies, and exceptions.
  • Provide training guidance and ongoing support to HR Assistants and DC Associates.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to record retention policies.
  • Assist with all payroll functions including time and attendance payroll system.
  • Track Leave of Absence and support processing of requests.
  • Provide reports/data on trends and recommend improvements to streamline processes.
  • Ensure critical daily and weekly deadlines are met and resolve exception items for payroll processing.
  • Assist HR Assistants with various requests including voids, reversals, and attendance.
  • Audit payroll processes and the work of HRAs for accuracy and data integrity.
  • Train new associates on payroll procedures and provide ongoing assistance.
  • Assist with testing enhancements or fixes to payroll and HRIS systems.
  • Create job aids and BP documents for the network.
  • Handle specific customer service situations as per department guidelines.
  • Escalate customer service issues and provide input for improvement.
  • Interact with home office on HR administrative issues.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
