About The Position

PAYROLL & COMPENSATION SPECIALIST // EAGLE BROOK CHURCH JOB OBJECTIVES Partners in delivering consistent and supportive HR services to all Eagle Brook Church locations Administers payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with federal, state and organizational policies Provides administrative support to the HR function as needed, including responding to employee inquiries, record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry Reports to the Human Resources Generalist ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Prepares and processes biweekly payroll with accuracy and timeliness: processes payroll-related changes maintains biweekly record of all payroll-related changes and details partners in auditing of payroll and maintaining proper HRIS set-up resolves any payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing data manages direct deposit returns performs weekly payroll audit runs biweekly payroll reports and disburses to appropriate departments maintains accurate holiday schedules for multiple work schedules submits payroll-related contributions to third-party vendors manages overtime authorization process Responds to employee requests and questions about payroll Enters, updates and/or retrieves information from various web-based automated HRIS systems and runs queries and reports, as needed in relation to payroll Assist with compensation studies and other benchmarking activities, including gathering survey data, maintaining market comparisons, and preparing materials to inform compensation decisions Assists with processing of terminations, including letters of separation, PTO payout/proration, reporting termination dates to appropriate vendors and COBRA enrollment Partners with the Finance team to ensure timely and accurate payment of HR-related expenses Coordinates, supports and tracks LOAs, disability and workers’ compensation claims Manages pastoral transitions, including managing housing allowance and licenses Supports implementation of salary adjustments by updating payroll records, validating changes, preparing compensation letters and supporting other employee communications OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Assists with Hiring Events and New Hire Orientation, as needed Provides administrative assistance for other HR projects Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Follower of Jesus and aligns with Eagle Brook Church’s nine core beliefs
  • Associate’s degree in related field or relevant certifications
  • 3+ years of experience working in HR, business, finance or related field
  • Knowledge of HR concepts, practices, policies and procedures, especially payroll and compensation
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and planning skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Strong work ethic and follow through
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and build strong working relationships
  • Takes initiative to research and resolve questions and issues
  • Ability to uphold a high level of confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, finance or related field
  • 2+ years of hands-on payroll experience
  • HRIS expertise

Responsibilities
