The Payroll Associate is accountable for the following: Setup new hires based on W-4 & I-9 information including wage rates, union class, tax status, and other employee deductions. Timesheets are entered daily with project information and class to generate appropriate calculation of union pay and associated union fringes. Utilizes Excel time import application for large projects that require automation. Uses computer for data entry of payroll information. Compiles payroll data, such as hours worked, taxes and union dues to be withheld, and employee identification number from timesheets and other records. Handles telephone calls from employees questioning hours worked, rates, overtime, union deductions, etc. and handles employment verifications. Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll. Records changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions and payroll deductions for each employee to update master payroll records. Records data concerning transfer of employees between projects. Prepares printed checks and sorts checks for distribution to project sites. Provides department on call coverage on a scheduled rotation. Available for overtime as required by current department demand, including weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays.
