About The Position

The Payroll Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the payroll department by ensuring accurate payroll processing for the organization. This position requires a keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills, as the Payroll Assistant will be responsible for reviewing employee timecard reports, addressing any discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with wage and hour regulations. The role is hybrid, requiring the employee to work three days in the El Cerrito office and two days remotely, providing flexibility while maintaining essential in-person collaboration with the team. In this position, the Payroll Assistant will collaborate closely with the People & Culture team to manage leaves of absence and the associated benefit premiums repayment. The role also involves monitoring the usage of mental health days to ensure compliance with company policies. The Payroll Assistant will act as a quality assurance check for timecards, ensuring that all payments are accurate and compliant with wage and hour laws. Additionally, the assistant will support compliance actions related to terminations and manual check payments, ensuring that all payroll-related activities are conducted smoothly and accurately. The Payroll Assistant will also assist in various administrative tasks, including scanning projects and maintaining organized records for both manual and electronic payroll items. Responsibilities will extend to managing payroll mail responsibilities, verifying medical support orders, and uploading garnishment orders as needed. This position is vital for maintaining the integrity of the payroll process and supporting the overall mission of Bay Area Community Resources, which is dedicated to promoting the healthy development of individuals and families in the community.
