About The Position

The Payroll and Compensation Specialist manages Wheaton Academy’s payroll and compensation activities. The Specialist works cooperatively with the Director of Human Resources and the Business Office to support the school’s operations in a God-honoring manner. The Specialist maintains accurate and complete records, prepares semi-monthly payroll and all related reporting, and assists with supporting the Human Resources and Business Departments in a way that carries out Wheaton Academy’s mission. This position is non-exempt, 25-28 hours per week, 12 months per year.

  • Must maintain active participation in a protestant church.
  • Accepts without verbal or mental reservations the Educational Philosophy and Mission of Wheaton Academy as outlined in the Statement of Faith.
  • Must follow a Christian lifestyle and maintain a Christian church affiliation whose fundamental beliefs align with the Statement of Faith of the school.
  • Affirms being a 'born again' Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.
  • Works independently and handles confidential information appropriately.
  • Possesses a strong work ethic and is energized by problem solving.
  • Has impressive understanding of Microsoft Systems including Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, Co-Pilot, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong business and financial acumen is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of semi-monthly payroll.
  • Tracks the compensation budget and reports all aspects of the compensation budget to the Business Office.
  • Processes continuing faculty contracts and staff employment continuation letters.
  • Acts as a fiduciary and plan administrator for the 403(b) Retirement Plan, attending quarterly meetings.
  • Conducts the annual audit, tracks participation for service milestone matches, and executes the annual Disclosure Assist Communication.
  • Assists in the annual benefits renewal process, specifically in benefits cost analysis.
  • Collaborates strongly with the Controller and the Director of Human Resources.
  • Serves as a Christian role model for students and parents.
  • Attends weekly faculty-staff devotions.
  • Interacts with employees and outside agencies in a Christ-like manner.
