About The Position

The Payroll and Compensation Coordinator at Royal Oaks Retirement Community is responsible for managing payroll processing and supporting the development and implementation of compensation programs. This role requires attention to detail and strong organizational skills to ensure accurate and timely payroll operations, as well as participation in compensation analysis and job description preparation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of direct payroll and compensation management/processing experience required.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now and Paylocity is a plus.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll payments bi-weekly and manage month-end responsibilities.
  • Oversee payroll system updates and changes to track employee time accurately, including holiday and vacation.
  • Manage garnishment and levy setups and processing.
  • Complete applications with tax agencies for compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Assist in entering new hires and employee changes into the payroll system.
  • Process manual checks for terminations and discrepancies, and calculate new hire and termination pay.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and review Enhanced Time and Attendance time sheets for accuracy.
  • Review payroll tax remittances and filings prepared by third-party processors.
  • Respond to unemployment claim inquiries and maintain knowledge of labor laws affecting compensation policies.
  • Participate in the development and administration of compensation programs, including job descriptions and performance reviews.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for payroll and compensation functions.
  • Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to support staff members and improve departmental administration.
