Nodal Exchange is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist to manage payroll processing and benefits administration for our employees at our Tyson’s Corner, VA (DC Metro area) office. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for processing payroll, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations as well as assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan.

Responsibilities

  • Process semi-monthly payroll timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
  • Calculate wages, bonuses, overtime and deductions
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
  • Primary point of contact for all employees regarding payroll deductions, overtime, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Coordinate with HR and Accounting teams regarding payroll changes (new hires, terminations, salary adjustments)
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures
  • Ad Hoc reporting and analysis as required
  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the appropriate systems
  • Assists with new-hire orientations and open enrollment process
  • Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes
  • Enroll employees with carriers and process life status changes
  • Responds to benefits inquiries related to plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries
  • Processes leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment
  • Reviews all benefits invoices as it pertains to benefits
  • Support Legal team with immigration duties

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, human resources, or related field
  • Three to five years of related experience required
  • Proficient with ADP Workforce Now
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Able to operate effectively in both a team environment and working independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of organization

  • Payroll certification, such as FPC or CPP
  • Technology savvy with demonstrated ability to learn systems and processes quickly
