About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Accountant to join our team at Circle K. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting and payroll rules and regulations and the ability to ensure payroll related transactions and liabilities are timely and accurately recorded to the general ledger. You will conduct detailed research and analysis to solve payroll issues while working closely with our Payroll, HR, HRIS, and Finance and Accounting teams. You will support and manage company goals by focusing on personal accountability, customer service, management, and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll accounting or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and stress management skills.
  • General ledger accounting experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PDI and Workday a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and prepare journal entries in PDI.
  • Calculate fiscal period accruals related to payroll.
  • Prepare fiscal period General Ledger Balance Sheet account reconciliations in Blackline.
  • Prepare and analyze payroll reports for management review.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer payroll questions asked by management and colleagues with excellent customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulations by adherence to internal controls, corporate policies and governmental regulations.
  • Prepare documentation of internal controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of payroll accounting records and participate in payroll audits, internal control audits, and the year-end financial statement audit.
  • Monitor changes in payroll laws and regulations and accounting rules through research, workshops, publications, and HR notifications; communicate changes to internal groups and ensure proper implementation of changes and training as needed.
