The Payments Operations Analyst at Patelco Credit Union is responsible for processing ACH files, reviewing Remote Deposit Capture items, and conducting fraud analysis to mitigate risks. This role requires providing superior service to both internal and external members while ensuring compliance with NACHA regulations and other federal guidelines. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong communication skills to effectively handle transactions and member inquiries.

  • Process ACH files of debit and credit exception items under NACHA regulations.
  • Review Remote Deposit Capture items and conduct fraud analysis for risk mitigation.
  • Investigate bank collection claims and provide superior service to members.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for ACH transactions, including compliance and operations guidelines.
  • Resolve disputes and conduct transaction research for frontline team members.
  • Accurately review exception entries of debit and credit transactions to make decisions on payments or returns.
  • Ensure compliance with NACHA regulations in handling exceptions, returns, and disputes.
  • Originate recurring ACH debits and credits to other financial institutions.
  • Review prenotification entries and initiate corrections as needed.
  • Respond to government reclamations of federal benefit payments and complete necessary research.
  • Analyze remote deposit check images to determine acceptability and compliance with standards.
  • Investigate claims from other financial institutions regarding bank collections.
  • Complete processing of daily share and loan draft exception files.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a credit union or financial institution.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in customer service or call center preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Remote Deposit Capture or returned check adjustments.
  • Knowledgeable in NACHA, Regulation CC, Regulation E, and Check21 Act.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong data entry skills with high accuracy standards.
  • Skilled in utilizing Microsoft Excel for data presentation.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • AAP or NCP Accreditation highly desired.
  • Experience with fraud detection and risk analysis.
