About The Position

Cit's industry-leading Payments business is at the forefront of global commerce, operations in approximately 90 countries and jurisdictions. Payments Product In-Business Risk (IBR) is a Front Office 1st Line of Defense Team responsible for operational and compliance risk management of the Payments business, supporting over 20 Payments sub-products. This role is specifically focused on supporting the product teams that are leading innovations across the e-commerce, fintech, and digital assets segments. The Payments In-Business Risk and Controls Lead will be responsible for partnering with the Spring by Citi and Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) product, operations and technology teams and the 2nd and 3rd line of defense stakeholders to support responsible business growth. The role will report to the Director of In-Business Risk and Controls for Spring by Citi, BaaS and Digital Assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in operational risk management, compliance, audit, or other control-related functions in the financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated related experience in payments processing, merchant acquiring, e-commerce and/or digital assets with proven abilities in taking responsibility for executing concurrently on a portfolio of high-quality deliverables according to strict timetables highly preferred.
  • Risk/Control and second line and/or audit background is preferred.
  • Expert understanding of compliance laws, rules, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proven experience in control related functions in the financial industry implementing sustainable solutions and improving processes.
  • Developing new ideas and improving current processes to proactively mitigate risks.
  • Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views.
  • Ability to work effectively and drive results with a virtual global team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of senior management and self-confidence to drive decisions across the various partners.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the pipeline of new initiatives in accordance with the New Activity Policy and Procedure; coordinate with product partners and lines of defense stakeholders to expediate reviews and approvals of new initiatives; support the coordination of Business Risk Review meetings.
  • Assess the effectiveness of existing controls, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing necessary changes.
  • Continually drive and manage controls enhancements focused on increasing efficiency and reducing risk.
  • Support oversight of the MCA program as it pertains to the Sub-Assessment Units (SAUs) for the specific products, including conducting analysis on key risk drivers and proposing action plans for remediation of any deficiencies or out of risk appetite metrics.
  • Support the monthly and quarterly production of the risk and control forums for the products including coordinating the meetings and stakeholders, managing agenda items, and ensuring follow-up on action items.
  • Responsible for the coordination and comprehensive management of issues with key stakeholders.
  • Manage the Product Risk Reviews and Product Approval Programs in collaboration with the product teams to ensure consistent information exists pertaining to the risk profile of the products.
  • Support the product teams with internal (Compliance, Operational Risk Management, Internal Audit) and external (regulatory) reviews.
  • Responsible for compliance with the Escalations Policy and all related tracking and management processes.
  • Ad-hoc projects and reviews enabling responsible business growth.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of teams and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
