The Payment Processing Representative is responsible for accepting, processing, and posting payments to customers' accounts while also addressing general customer inquiries. This role involves rotating between the Pulaski Drive Thru and the mail room according to the department schedule, ensuring accurate payment processing, and maintaining cash working funds. The representative will balance cash and check payments, prepare bank deposits, and follow established audit practices. Clear communication with customers and colleagues is essential, as is presenting a positive image of Huntsville Utilities. The role also includes cross-training in various job functions and providing customer assistance during emergencies.

  • Rotates between Pulaski Drive Thru and the mail room according to department schedule.
  • Determines and accepts correct payment amounts from customers.
  • Maintains assigned cash working funds accurately.
  • Balances cash and check payments and posts to customers' accounts according to established procedures and prepares deposits.
  • Prepares bank deposits at Pulaski Drive Thru location according to Department schedule.
  • Verifies, retrieves, processes and signs off on all drop payments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Opens mailed payments using the OPEX envelope opener.
  • Strictly follows established audit practices and procedures.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with customers and fellow employees of Huntsville Utilities.
  • Presents a positive image of Huntsville Utilities by knowing how to perform all required job functions.
  • Cross trains in various job functions in order to assist in accomplishing the workload of the Department and others within the Company.
  • Provides customer assistance during emergency conditions.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience in a banking/credit union environment or retail cash experience is preferred.
  • Ability to perform data entry tasks accurately.
  • Excellent grammar and communication skills along with ability to file and write legibly.
  • Proficient in the use of an adding machine, copier, fax machine.
  • Familiarity with the use of personal computers is a plus; OPEX and scanning equipment is preferred.
  • Spanish communication skills desired.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on customer load and need.
