About The Position

Job Title: Pay Station Clerk Department: Grocery FLSA: Non-Exempt General Function: Provides prompt and friendly service to customers and assist them when necessary. Operates cash register, replenishes supplies, and assists with cleaning tables.

Requirements

• Must be able to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Must have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Must be able to make change.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner.
• Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible.
• Assists customers by making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Operates cash register accurately and scans product.
• Redeems promotional coupons, receives cash, checks, completes credit-card charge transactions, and figures discounts.
• Places merchandise in bags or boxes and gives packages to customers.
• Ensures adequate supply of silverware, condiments, and beverage cups are on hand for customer use.
• Refills and maintains coffee service area supplies.
• Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
