About The Position

The Pattern Maker Journeyperson will work with other skilled Pattern Makers in the maintenance and repair of tooling, dies, robotic end of arm tooling, and mold tools. This role requires strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with Team Members, Management, and Engineering. The position involves maintaining production and non-production tools, following engineering repairs and changes, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures and workplace organization standards.

Requirements

  • At least six (6) years of related experience as a Pattern Maker or a U.S Department of Labor Certificate of Completion as a Pattern Maker.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Willing to work flexible shift hours and overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, and other manual/CNC machines.
  • TIG welding experience.
  • Experience using 3D CAD data in CNC programming, preferably in GIBBS/UGNX.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain production and non-production tools per Dimensional Checks.
  • Follow instructions on work performed on tooling per Engineering repairs and changes.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills with Team Members, Management, and Engineering.
  • Work with Global Manufacturing System (GMS) teams to maintain Built-In Quality (BIQ) qualification.
  • Safely operate multiple pieces of machinery for optimal efficiency.
  • Obey and follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Maintain work area according to GMS Work Place Organization (WPO) standards.
  • Follow lockout procedures and all safety policies.
  • Read blueprints and perform shop math calculations.
  • Use measuring tools/instruments to layout and verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Mentor others in problem solving and innovation.
  • Complete all quality and inspection paperwork and documentation.
  • Prioritize multiple jobs/tasks with different deadlines.
  • Consult with and resolve related issues required of tooling changes.
