Job Summary Iron Mountain is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Patients Record Technician to join our Health Information Management team. In this role, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate accessioning of cases into the Joint Pathology Information Management System (JPIMS), ensuring the integrity of medical record processing, and maintaining the organized storage of critical pathology materials. This is an In-Person position Silverprings/Bethesada MD

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in a medical warehouse or medical records environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Medical Records Processing, including screening/filing procedures, Anatomy, Physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Proven ability in database management within a Windows-based environment and the proficient use of barcode equipment for inventory tracking.
  • High School Graduate or GED (required); Associates or Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
  • Security Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Investigation clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Case Documentation: Execute the end-to-end accessioning process by assigning cases to pathology subspecialties, marking materials with unique identification numbers, and updating electronic tracking systems to ensure seamless case transfers.
  • Support Repository Operations: Collaborate with professional staff and departmental teams to locate materials, perform periodic audits of repository files, and ensure all microscopic slides, paraffin blocks, and tissue samples are filed in designated chronological storage.
  • Maintain Quality & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Institute policies and organizational standards by reviewing accessioned cases for accuracy, performing SNOMED coding, and maintaining a clean, organized workstation to support optimal turnaround times.
