About The Position

MHMR Concho Valley - MHMRCV (Concho Valley Center For Human Advancement) has an open position for a Patients Accounts/ Benefits Clerk. This position assists with verifications of insurance coverage and pre-certification. The clerk will help review patient account files to ensure their accuracy and completeness, receive and answer all billing-related inquiries, and follow up on patient accounts from the date insurance claims are billed to the receipt of payments. Responsibilities include completing annual financial assessments, updating patient accounts, determining patient responsibility after third-party payments, discussing financial matters with patients, and referring delinquent accounts to the accounts manager for collection. The clerk will also assist clients with TANF, Medicaid, and SSDI/SSI applications and must be willing to be mobile and flexible.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Familiarity with claims processing and health-related account and collection work.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and must be insurable on the Center's insurance.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of medical billings, third-party reimbursement, and insurance coverage.
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance verification processes.
  • Problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with verifications of insurance coverage and pre-certification.
  • Review patient account files for accuracy and completeness.
  • Receive and answer all billing-related inquiries.

  • Complete annual financial assessments and update patient accounts.
  • Determine patient's responsibility after third-party payment.
  • Discuss financial matters concerning balances and offer financial arrangements to patients.
  • Refer delinquent accounts to accounts manager for collection.
  • Mail out billing statements.
  • Assist clients with TANF, Medicaid, and SSDI/SSI applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
