About The Position
The Patient Transporter at UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient transport of patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility. This position is essential for maintaining the flow of operations within the hospital, as it involves transporting patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to designated sites as requested. The transporter must be adept at handling patients with various medical needs, including those requiring oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors, and other equipment. In addition to patient transport, the role includes assisting patients with entering and exiting vehicles, which may involve transferring them from or to wheelchairs or stretchers. The transporter is also responsible for delivering equipment and specimens to the appropriate staff or department, ensuring that all items are handled with care and urgency. Furthermore, the Patient Transporter assists staff with the sensitive task of removing deceased bodies from units and transporting them to the morgue, demonstrating the need for compassion and professionalism in all interactions. Greeting patients and visitors, providing information, and directing them as needed are also key responsibilities of this role. The position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. The transporter must be prepared to take appropriate action in various situations, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients at all times.
