About The Position

The Patient Transporter is primarily responsible for safe transportation of patients and guests to and from hospital departments, clinical units and to and from the hospital parking garage according to department schedules and the needs and direction of department/unit managers and staff. This position is responsible for the safe transport of patients, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment via wheelchair, stretcher or bed, or utility vehicle as requested.

Requirements

  • Experience driving a utility vehicle (golf cart) is preferred, but training will be provided.
  • Must possess good customer service skills.
  • Good knowledge of body mechanics.
  • Education: High School Diploma (Equivalent) or higher (Required)
  • Active certification in BLS or become certified with 90 days of hire.
  • A valid (Class D) Drivers License and clean driving record (Required)

  • Bilingual Spanish Speaking candidate preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe, direct observation of patients being transported.
  • Assists nursing staff to create, maintain and provide a safe environment.
  • Assist health care professionals to lift/move patients when necessary to ensure a smooth transport process.
  • Responsible for reporting on changes in the condition of patient/client to the appropriate supervisor and other staff members.
  • Possess and demonstrate excellent customer service skills as well as excellent interpersonal, organizational and verbal communication skills.
  • Clean and maintain equipment as needed.
