About The Position

A Jefferson Health Patient Transporter (PRN) safely moves patients via wheelchairs or stretchers between rooms, diagnostic areas, and operating rooms on an as-needed basis. This role involves verifying patient identity, monitoring patient status during transport, assisting with transfers, cleaning equipment, and maintaining safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Transport: Move patients securely to/from inpatient beds, emergency, radiology, and procedural areas.
  • Safety & Monitoring: Observe patients for changes in condition during transport, report to nursing staff, and follow infection control protocols.
  • Equipment Handling: Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of wheelchairs and stretchers.
  • Operational Support: Assist in transferring patients between beds and transport equipment, and, at times, assist with transporting medical equipment or samples.
  • Documentation & Communication: Utilize systems for transport tracking (e.g., Epic), and confirm, transport, and hand off patients to appropriate staff.
