Department: CC012820 Patient Transport Job Description Summary: Position Responsibilities States name & informs patient on where they are to be transported. Uses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients. Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment, wheelchairs and stretchers and ensure equipment is clean and in safe operating conditions. Notifies nursing staff when patient is leaving the unit and when patient returns back to the unit. Ensures that patient’s chart is alongside when being transported Assures all transports are completed within the time parameters assignments. Collects all specimens and blood products ands safety delivers to the receiving department. Demonstrates a positive attitude when transporting & speaking to patients Checks all oxygen cylinders prior to transport to assure tanks are full and are in safe condition. Correctly checks in and out of the patient transport system, and input the correct pager number when checking into work. Maintains CPR Certification. Qualifications License/Registration/Certification CPR required or must be obtained while in training. Education High School Diploma or GED preferred. Experience Customer service ability, develop cooperative working relationship with other staff members and all other personnel. Ability to transport patients in a safe, efficient and professional manner. Ability to operate portable radio. Skills in reading and writing standard English text.
