Transports all patient populations to and from examinations and treatments. Performs general errands and other routine duties including cleaning equipment, securing supplies, and other tasks as required. Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care. Adheres to unit procedures wherever transport services rendered. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• BLS (AHA, American Heart Association) or BLS (ARC, American Red Cross) certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for transport and performs passive and active identification to ensure all patients are properly identified before transporting.
• Transports all patients and equipment to and from testing and procedure areas including inpatient, outpatient, emergency and high risk Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
• Effectively communicates with medical employees to ensure all required medical supplies and medications are appropriately transported with the patient including the administering of oxygen when required.
• Responsible for the timely discharge of patients throughout the hospital.
• Under the direction of medical employees and/or Registered Nurse (RN), assists in providing support in toileting ambulatory patients.
• Cleans and disinfects equipment according to established policies and procedures.
• Maintains clean work areas and returns equipment to appropriate department.
• Communicates malfunctioning equipment/instruments to appropriate department/unit staff.
• Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
