About The Position

Under general supervision and according to established procedures, dispatches Patient Transportation Aides throughout the facility to transport patients. Determines staffing needs, assigns priorities and schedules transportation services; maintains logs of all transportation services provided and generates reports as required. Ensures maintenance of transportation equipment such as stretchers and wheelchairs. Communicates with nursing staff and informs of potential problems such as schedule overloads or medication concerns. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six to twelve months experience transporting patients and materials in a hospital environment.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to coordinate the flow of work, to work productively with a wide variety of internal and external personnel and to interact effectively.
  • Physical ability necessary to move and transport patients.
  • Leadership skills sufficient to schedule the work of a medium size group of employees in response to an unpredictable workload.
