About The Position

Responsible for the safe transportation of patients to and from areas in the clinic or hospital via a wheelchair or stretcher. Helps patients by transporting them into, around, and out of the facility. Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Com.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required or GED equivalent
• 0 - 1 year's related experience
• CPR Certification

Responsibilities

• Ensures appropriate identification of patients prior to shifting or transporting them.
• Learns patient name and determines destination, mode of travel, time, and other data, following written or verbal instructions.
• Ensures that transport equipment such as wheelchairs and stretchers are in proper working condition prior to patient pick up.
• Lifts patients on and off beds, moving them to and from treatment areas using wheelchairs or moveable stretchers.
• Guides or escorts incoming patients from admitting area to designated location.
• Carries patient's luggage or personal belongings.
• Assists patient in walking to prevent accidents by falling.
• Delivers messages, mail, medical records, and other items to patient.
• Assists in maintaining order and cleanliness in entrance point.
• May collect laboratory specimens, drops them off to laboratories, and picks up test results.
• Other duties as assigned.
