The primary purpose of this position is to transport patients around PHHS by wheelchair or stretcher to ensure patient's safety.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transports patients via stretcher or wheelchair to departments/areas of PHHS to help safeguard patients while on the campus.
  • Assists in the transport of critical care patients in unison with the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with other areas of the hospital, nurses, physicians, and other Parkland staff.
  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments in customer service by attending in-house seminars/workshops.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Patient Transportation area.

Requirements

  • Prefer 6 months of experience in healthcare and/or customer service.
  • Must have current CPR-Heartsaver course completion card within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Must have very strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must exhibit caring, service-oriented behaviors.
  • Must be able to apply sound judgement toward satisfying a variety of questions and problems.
  • Must be able to follow both oral and written directions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, nurses, physicians, and other hospital personnel.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must complete a Preventative Back Injury & Proper Lift Technique class within 90 days of hire.
