The role includes assisting patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds with the help of technical staff and nursing assistance as needed. Transport assignments are dispatched electronically and received via phones and pagers. Observing departmental and hospital safety policies and procedures is crucial, including maintaining safety standards and using proper body mechanics while assisting patients. The employee is responsible for following patient identification policies, ensuring safety precautions are in place during transportation, and assisting with patient care activities such as positioning, lifting, and turning patients. Proper handling of medical equipment and maintaining patient confidentiality are also essential duties.
